At Zelasko Soft Tissue and Spine, we use the Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) technique, which is the second generation of the Graston Technique. David Graston himself, after leaving his original company, Graston, developed a superior set of instruments for both patients and doctors.
The improvements these instruments brought to the table would change instrument assisted treatment forever. Although simple, one of these improvements was instead of curved edges (like Graston instruments have), SASTM instruments have flat edges.
Flat edges allow chiropractors to be much more effective in trapping scar tissue and breaking it down. This is also more effective at grabbing the scar tissue, which leads to fewer treatments and superior results.
In summary, Graston Technique instruments were already doing a great job, but SASTM instruments are even better.
